Logos can be put anywhere and everywhere. All products need to have a logo. My current event logos are no differant. My "zoo watchers" logo is on a pack of animal crackers here, my tap water logo is on a mug (where you put water to make tee), the Kosovo logo (which was made to resemble Abercromie shirt graphics) is on a shirt, and my "B2" logo (a knock off of K2) is on a snowboard. They all look like they belong. This just goes to show that logos are needed everywhere, and they can represent anything. I had a great time creating these and I hope that you enjoy them.

Arby's bought Wendy's for $2.34 billion. Wendy's was owned by the Thomas family since 1969 and they are very sad about the whole thing. Hopefully they wont change the menue! The logo is Wendy wearing the Arby's hat. This symbolizes that Wendy now works for Arby's or is now owned by Arby's and her facial expression shows her surprize.

April 14:
Pope Benedict XVI visited New York City and Washington DC to find many protestors. This pope has been the least tolerant one in a while, banning contraception, speaking against gay marriage, promoting sexism in the church, and doing nothing to help the voulnerable and the wounded of priest child sex abuse. All of the protestors were catholics, but disagreed with the pope on many points. This logo depicts Pope Benedict XVI, blessing a crowd of protestors with signs. In between his hands is the type :PROTEST ANT", referring to the protestors being protestant (not religiously, but literally) and playing on the name of a branched off religion. The Capitol Building is in the background.

April 11:

American Airlines cancelled hundreds of flights due to inspection problems. Many airlines, mainly American, have been cancelling thousands of flights because of inspection related problems. Passengers are fuming. 250,000 passengers have been affected by American this week alone. This is the American Airlines logo, with a C that stands for cancellations, and the eagle has it's wings clipped as the planes never took off. Birds that have their wings clipped can not fly by the way.

April 2:

Today, a group of nine 3rd graders plotted to attack their teacher. The reason was because the teacher scolded one of them for stading on a chair the previous day. The group of 3rd graders were organized: one brought a broken steak knife, annother brought handcuffs, one more brought duct tape, and others would close the curtains and clean up afterwards. The plan did not go through and if it did, half of the group may not have done anything for fear of getting in trouble. The police are trying to figure out what to do with them since they probably did not know the consequences of what they were going to do. This logo is a parody of "The Children Of The Corn" poster. I did this because the 3rd graders were acting like the children of the corn, and it made a good visual. The large hand is holding a steak knife instead of a corn shucker, there are eight other children in the background instead of seven, and instead of a corn feild, there are school desks. The title and subtitle are about the same font and color as the origional, but it says "Children of Center Elementary" since that was the name of the school.

March 30:

Earth Hour is a one hour event that takes place every year on March 29. It started with Sidney, Australia as the forerunner and it supported by the WWF or World Wildlife Foundation. The goal is to make people and businesses turn off their non-essential lights for an hour, starting at 8:00 in their respective timezones. The lights are supposed to dim as the world turns. This year, more countries participated than ever before. It is a "green" act, meaning it is supposed to make people aware of global warming, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Apparently, they already have a logo for Earth Hour, as you will see in the video link, but it is still my duty to make a logo for the article. The logo is a black circle, of course representing the earth, and the skyline of Sidney is darkened but still visible in the background. Inspiration came from the logos of: Department of Foreign Language, San Jose State, Ca; Ligitly-Noble and Associates; and Sigma Network LL.

March 17:

Zoos arround the country are beginning to put zoo animals on diets. They use the same system as weight watchers, using points per day. The diet craze of humans is now being imposed on the zoo animals. The logo is almost the same as Weight Watchers, but I added a polar bear and giraffe to show that it is indeed for zoo animals. Zoo Watchers is sweeping the nation!

March 14-March 18...

Tibetan protesters arroused attention as they got violent. They threw rocks at police and set bonfires. This brought a major crackdown force from China, who did not want to look inhumane as their Olympics are at stake. The protests were against Chinese rule in Tibet, which wants to become independant. China accused the Dalai Lama, who they exiled to India, of organizing the riots. China later sent in troops to stop the riots and at least 10 civilians died, probably more. China also accused the protesters and rioters of trying to ruin the Olympics, as the torch must go through Tibet and they don't want countries to boycott because of violence. The logo is the Chinese flag, being zipped up arround the Tibetan flag, which is trying to escape. This shows the unrest in Tibet, as well as Chinese power in that it has taken over or engulfed Tibet.

March 8:

Serbia's government collapsed due to a split between the people, half wanting to conform with the U.N., half wanting to rub up to Russia. Elections will happen later for a new government. I am not quite sure how these things work, but it seems the independance of Kosovo contributed to the collapse. The logo takes Serbia's coat of arms and tears it in half, signifying the split between the nation. It is conveniant that the animal on their crest has two heads. I placed the split crown pieces further away to make them look like they are falling off, signifying the fall of the government. The text on the bottom has a cyrllic style, which is the alphabet used by slavic nations, and it reads: get ready for a new serbia.

March 9:

A study showed that prescription drugs are in low concentrations in tap water. This is because drugs stay put through the water purification process. This is a major concern because theres no telling what will happen over the long run to people and to nature. Modifications in fish living in the reservoirs have already been documented. This logo is a faucet shooting out prescription pills and the typography is the kind one would see in a soothing water advert.

March 8:

A very rare white killer whale was spotted in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. White killer whale sightings can be counted using fingers. The animal has been described as "nearly mythical." They are not true albinos, as they have a yellow tings in parts, and can live normal length lives. The logo was inspired by the Sea World logo, old and new, as well as Wachovia, which can be noticed in the wave lines.

March 4:

Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, ordered his troops to it's boarder with Columbia when Columbia sent an unauthorized task force into Ecuador to kill a Leftist leader. Columbia is an American-backed republic that has been treeorized by the Columbian Revolutionary guard, a communist terrorist group. Ecuador and Venezuela have been accused of harboring these terrorists, which is why Columbia decided to take advantage of it's power and take out the leader. Columbia has more troops than Ven. and Ecuador combined. This logo is remeniscent of AT&T because of the triangle stripes. The stripes are the colors of the Venezuelan flag and they get thicker at the boarder of Columbia, signifying the move.

March 2:

Japan announced that it would have a work force of 1 million robots by 2025. It is the leading nation in robotics, with 32 industrial robots for every 1000 Japanese manufacturing employees in 2005. Right now, the leading uses are for industry, household appliences, and helping the elderly. This logo incorporates the red sun of the Japanese flag into the running robot. The J R stands for Japan Robotics. The robot is dominant and moving forward.

Feb 29:

It has been a known fact that snowflakes, as well as rain droplets, form arround tiny particles in the air. That is why cloud seeding works, dropping dust in clouds to force rain out. Now, a study shows that a large ammount of the particles that percipitation form arround, or the nucleators, are actually bacteria. Some of the bacteria, namely Pseudomonas syringae, can cause sickness in plants. Scientists are now debating whether the bacteria are good or bad since they perviously wanted to delete them from the atmosphere. The logo is a snowflake with a bacterial core, and a red hexagon arround it like a stop sign to show caution. The influences were several winter olympics logos, although mine is much more simplistic.

Feb 29:

China is one of the worlds largest polluters. Recently, a whole river was turned "red and bubly" by their pollution, depriving thousands of people of water for weeks. Apparently the Chinese had enough and for publicity, has bolstered their environmental agency by one hundred percent. We'll see if that does anything. The logo is a kind of slap in the face to their environmental agency, depicting red water, although is does look quite nice if you don't notice that part.

Feb 26:

The doomsday seed vault was opend in Svalbard, an island north of Norway; the arctic circle. Guests from all contributing countries brought in their seeds on the red carpet. It is an international sort of bank for seeds, which can last up to thousands of years, or at least 200 years in the worst case senario. that would of course be global warming, which would melt the arctic circle... but the vault has back up refrigeration. It was built to keep humanity supplied with food in the face of global catastrophy. The logo incorporates a vault door, the island of Svalbard, and ofcourse, a seed.

Feb 23:

A B-2 Stealth Bomber crashed in Guam for no reason, but both pilots ejected safely. This was the first time that a B-2 has crashed. At 1.2 BILLION dollars, this was a kick in the wallet. This logo is remaniscent of K2, a ski/snowboard company. The cracked b2 bomber in the logo is made up of a b and a 2, a bit of typography for you all.

Feb 24:

Grey wolves were taken off the endangered species list in the tristate area arround Wyoming when the numbers reached 1,500. Now, activists are complaining that 1,500 is not enough for them to be taken off the list. This logo glorifies the prestigious grey wolf. The three states are behind him or her.

Feb 23:

In a show of anger, Hillary Clinton, who lost her lead in the presidential race, yelled "Shame on you, Obama," on television. She was angry that Obama was sending out old newsletters that were published with lies about her healthcare plan. Obama then went on tv later in the day and denied fault. The logo is a picture of her when she yelled the phrase, which is prninted underneath her. It's more of a bumper sticker or a pin than anything, but arguably, it could be a logo for anything under the sun, such as "Shame on you, Obama Frosted Flakes!"

Feb 22:

The United States shot down a dying spy satellite from a boat in the Great Lakes. It was a one shot one kill deal, and the entire thing was obliterated. China felt miffed and some thought the U.S. was flexing its muscles and practicing to shoot down satellites more often. This logo utilizes the red, white and blue of our country, and the ship and satelite are black for contrast. The inspiration was from the NASA logo. After the fact, it looks somewhat Russian.

Feb 22:

Kosovo was recognized by the United States as an independant nation. Basically, this meant that Kosovo has successfully suceeded from Serbia. Serbs were angry and rioted, blaming America, while Albanians cheered and thanked America. Kosovo is made up mostely of Albanians. This logo celebrates the sucession of Kosovo. It hints a bit at some of the clothing logos i've seen arround with the tagline "since xdate" in a worn-away font. The black two headed bird is from the Albanian flag and the white one is from the Serbian flag- I thought i would marry them inside the olive branches of the United Nations flag. The blue background is also from the U.N. and the stripes are obviously from the American flag since it played such a central role, as always.

Headline Logos:

Logos are created for sports teams, companies, restaurants, clothing manufacturers and so on. What I am doing is creating logos for current event articles. A few times a week, I will choose a few current event articles from www6.comcast.net that I find interesting and find a way to create a logo for it. Comments on my designs are welcome!
